It is just one hour flight to Gilgit and almost 14-16 hours journey along the KKH

from Islamabad. Only two TDR airplanes shuttle between Islamabad and Gilgit subject to weather conditons. Gilgit, the capital and the hub of trade of Northern Areas, is an enchanting town surrounded mostly by barren mountains. Gigit was also an important city on the Silk Road through which buddhism was spread from India to rest of Asia.

It takes about two hours to get Naltar, a beautiful alpine pasture about 35 km, and then another half an hour to Naltar lake by jeep. From here on you will have to start trekking up to Lower Shani for about four hours and to Upper Shani for one hour. Spend a day here to get acclimitized by walking up to top of valley and the foot of Naltar pass where from you can go to Ishkoman as well.

After the very steep ridge up sliding shale for two hours to the top, then scramble to the right along the pointed crest to the crain. Go down extremely steep shale slope to a large snow field to the other side with flowered filled pasture and pitch your tents here. Or  go a little ahead to Toleybari.

A few minutes walk to Toleybari and then to Tali for almost four to six hours and then to Tarbetar Das to get jeep.

Start your journey to Hunza through KKH with splendent views on the way. Spend couple of days exploring Hunza, go seeing forts and go up to Doikar for snaps and enjoy your holidays.
